Very good used paperback. Previous owner's blind stamp on title page.
Watching Birds is written for both the bird watcher and the environmentalist. It is intended to unite the bird watcher's perception of specific details with environmentalist's awareness of general truths. Although it explains some of the techniques of watching birds, this is not a book on identifying them, but a guide through the main topics of ornithology: how and why birds are studied, how they evolved, the physical adaptations that enable them to exploit such diverse roles in the environment, the significance of behavior in their daily lives and annual cycles, and how their distribution reflects broader zoogeographical principles. Also chapters on conservation, attracting birds, and major concerns of ornithology.
