Buy, Sell, Trade FAQs
Do you take used books?
Yes! We love to find new homes for old books.
We gladly accept gifts of used books from smoke-free homes that are neither soiled nor water-damaged. You may bring books any time the shop is open. If you are not local and would like to mail books to us, we can send you a shipping label (email with your mail-from address and the weight and dimensions of the package.) Thank you for supporting our small business!
If you would like to sell your used books, we're interested in that, too. Cash and store credit are both available. Note that due to limited physical space, we have to be quite picky about what we purchase. While we wish we could accept everything, we have to prioritize what is currently most in demand with our community. If you have a large collection or would like to receive a quote in advance of visiting us, please send photos and information to orders@buteobooks.com.
For sales of rare or antiquarian books and art, please send photos and information to orders@buteobooks.com for a custom sales quote. We are happy to discuss consignment arrangements for high-value or unusual items.
I'm an author. Will you stock my book?
Congratulations on publishing your book! We are interested in learning about your work. Please feel free to send us links to your publisher's website or introduce us to your publisher rep any time. For self-published work, or books that are otherwise not available through wholesale distributors, please write to orders@buteobooks.com with information about wholesale discounts and availability. We are happy to discuss drop-ship arrangements as well.
I represent a non-profit. Will you donate books to our fundraiser or event?
We are always interested in collaboration and partnership with bird- and nature-related organizations. Please write to orders@buteobooks.com with information about what you have in mind, including any specific requests you may have for in-kind donations or sponsorship opportunities.
Can I host an event in your shop?
We host a range of author talks, workshops, and other birding-related events. If you have an idea for a community get-together, we'd love to collaborate! For private events, please send us the details of what you're planning, including date, times, and expected attendance numbers, and we will be glad to discuss options.
