Between August and December, tens of thousands of raptors pass through the Marin Headlands and over Hawk Hill, the largest migration site on the West Coast of North America.
While long-term monitoring has found peak numbers of all of the 19 different hawks, falcons, eagles, vultures, osprey, kites, and harriers who migrate along the Pacific Flyway typically occur during the third week of September, it also shows that each species moves according to their own unique timing.
Through photography, drawings, paintings, mixed media, and more, Peak Season seeks to illustrate and interpret the ways these majestic birds of prey undertake migration each year.
