Original stamped green cloth with gilt lettering on spines in good plus condition. Corners bumped, spines a bit dull. First three volumes have bookplates of two previous owners. Four volumes. Volume I: Birds, Raptores & Insessores, 1849, 434 pp.; Volume II: Birds, Rassores & Grallatores, 1850, 350 pp.; Volume III: Birds, Natatores, 1851, 491 pp.; and Volume IV: Mammalia, Reptiles, and Fishes, also Invertebrata, 1856, 516 pp. The last volume published posthumously with a portrait and Memoir of William Thompson, Esq.
