The Farallon Islands, lying just 35 km offshore from San Francisco, are the home for a large and remarkably diverse assemblage of seabirds. On these particular small islands and rocks, nest two species of storm-petrels, three species of cormorants, a gull, and five species of auks. Based on a fifteen year study, this book illustrates how closely the birds breeding ecology is linked to fluctuations in the marine environment, and especially availability of food resources.  Black and white photos, charts.
