Number 35 in a series of of Japanese Tourist Guides published by Japanese Government Railways in the 1930s and '40s. These booklets were designed to help tourists learn the customs, culture, manners, and ways of Japan. They are beautifully illustrated with parchment wrappers. 

Japanese Birds includes black-and-white photographs of birds in both urban and rural areas. Included are several full spread color paintings of Japanese birds illustrated by Z. Kobayasi.
