Very Good used hardcover in very good dust jacket. DJ is slightly shelf-worn, price clipped, with small chips, small tear.
Eastern San Luis Obispo County is an arid region of rolling grasslands midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles that has historically been a favorite foraging ground for the rarest of North American birds: the California Condor. This book is an exploration of the character and history of that landscape, and of two brothers, Eben and Ian McMillan, who are nearly as unique as the bird with which they have come to be associated. They are 80-year old ranchers, naturalists, and conservationists, who have spent their entire lives in condor country, speaking out in defense of the condor and of the earth. Through the McMillans we learn of the bird's struggle against extinction, and of the land where it has been played out.
