The author has traced the development of bird painting during this exciting period which produced artists such as Bosch, Durer, Holbein, Brueghel, Rubens, Rembrandt, and Leonardo. She describes the types of birds that were common, and the exotic birds being brought back to Europe by trading trips from newly colonized parts of America, Asia and South America.
