Very Good used paperback. Shelf worn.
Dick Smith, before his untimely death in February, 1977, was the untiring guardian of the Santa Barbara backcountry. He was called "the conscience of the county." For thirteen years, from 1964 to 1977, he roamed the trails and canyons of this wilderness area with his camera, brush and notebook. The drama of his condor observations unfolds through the pages of his journal, culminating in his discovery of a newly hatched youngster, giving hope to the continuation of this endangered species.
Also includes the revised and updated text of "California Condor: Vanishing American" (Santa Barbara, 1964), long out of print and considered the most valuable and definitive study of this magnificent and ancient bird.
With color, black and white photographs, and drawings by this dedicated naturalist, artist and journalist.
