This book celebrates the great color and diversity of Bali's many avian inhabitants.  Author Victor Mason, an experienced birder and long-time island resident, introduces each species as an old and treasured friend.  Artist Frank Jarvis' brilliant watercolors bring the birds alive, some coy and nervous, others wild and plucky-- bursts of color soaring across the sun-dappled landscape.  122 of the island's most notable species are described and illustrated.  Mason's introduction reveals the best birding sites and he provides a comprehensive check-list (including probables) as an invaluable reference for the serious birder.
