1985. 12 pp. Paperback in Good condition. The wrappers are very thin and there are a few creases throughout the pages, but the pages are crisp and clean. Corners are slightly bumped. From his adolescence onward, John James Audubon invented for himself a romantic persona whose history he continually edited and embroidered. Even those closest to him knew only parts of the truth. He was lionized as a genius and an American hero on both sides of the Atlantic, but there was also an undercurrent of suspicion and outright dislike of him, particularly among professional ornithologists.
