About the Author

Sneed B. Collard and dog Lola

Sneed B. Collard III is the author of almost 100 adult and children’s books, including the award-winning adult memoir Warblers and Woodpeckers: A Father-Son Big Year of Birding and the children’s books Fire Birds, Woodpeckers: Drilling Holes & Bagging Bugs, and Birds of Every Color.

A graduate of UC Berkeley and UC Santa Barbara, Sneed turned his passion for nature and science into a writing career after college. To research and write his books, he has traveled to Central America, the Caribbean, Australia, South America, and the deep sea floor. However, it wasn’t until his son Braden showed an interest in birds that the two of them took up birding as a passion.

In his humorous new book, Birding for Boomers, Sneed shares more than a decade of birding wisdom and experience to help new birders get started on the world’s greatest hobby. In the book, birders will find crucial tips on birding identification, gear, hotspots, travel, safety, and much, much more. When he is not traveling to speak or bird, Sneed lives with his family in Missoula, Montana. Follow his adventures at his blog, FatherSonBirding.com.
