Our site does not currently take orders over the web. We have been a mail-order catalog bookseller for 25 years, but have yet to go "e-". Browse though our online catalog and print out our order form in either HTML or PDF to assist you in placing your order. You may then contact us by phone, fax, e-mail or mail to place your order. Please provide your name, shipping address, and either telephone or e-mail address in case we need to contact you. We will also need the credit card number, expiration date, and name on card.

Another note: Please double check your address for typographical errors, especially the zip code or postal code. Although we attempt to verify addresses, we can't catch everything, and we cannot be responsible for lost packages due to this type of error.

Payment Options: Prepayment is required by check, money order, or credit card in US Dollars.   We accept Mastercard or Visa credit cards.   Please provide card number, name on card, and expiration date.  

2. SHIPPING AND HANDLING

PLEASE NOTE: USPS rates for domestic and international shipping changed on May 14, 2007. Domestic rates have increased, and International options have changed. See below for details.

Orders are usually shipped within 24 hours. Unless specified otherwise, orders are shipped by the cheapest method; either by the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) or United Parcel Service (UPS) at our discretion. Please specify if either of these methods is unsuitable. We have found USPS Media Mail to be quite reliable, but books sent by this method may take up to 1-3 weeks to reach you. If you require your book(s) by a certain date, we recommend the appropriate UPS air or ground service. You will be charged the actual UPS shipping charge plus a $2.00 handling fee. DETERMINING POSTAGE COSTS

Standard Domestic Postage via Media Mail (Book Rate):
$5.00 for the first book and $1.00 for each additional book to a maximum charge of $10.00. See the following for examples. This covers Media Mail only. Expedited services are available at extra charge. See above for options.

EXCEPTIONS:
Birds of North America: If your order consists of only Birds of North America series accounts, the first account costs $4 to ship, and additional accounts cost $1 each.
Handbook of Birds of the World: Add an additional $5 for each volume in your order.

International Orders: Please contact us for a quote. New postal rates and limits have greatly increased the cost of mailing books internationally. Postal options include USPS Priority Airmail and USPS Express Airmail, which both offer tracking. Insurance is also available for a fee.

Flat-rate Priority Mail envelopes for small books are available for $12 to Canada or $14 worldwide, and Flat-rate boxes can fit small orders for $26 to Canada or $41 worldwide. Larger orders must be quoted depending on weight.

If the above schedule proves inequitable, actual shipping charges plus an appropriate amount for handling may be applied.

3. SALES TAX

Virginia residents must add sales tax at the current rate of 5%. Please calculate 5% of the total cost of the books, not including shipping. Please contact us if you need assistance.

4. RETURNS

Books may be returned within 10 days for a refund or credit of the cost of the book. Please be sure to pack the books with sufficient cushioning to ensure that they arrive in new condition. Shipping and handling charges are not refundable, unless the reason for return is due to a mistake on the part of Buteo Books. Otherwise, we will refund the cost of the book.

Prices are in U.S. Dollars, and prices listed on this site are subject to change without notice. Publishers often raise prices, and international currency exchange rates and shipping costs force us to cover our costs. We make every attempt to keep prices on this site current, but human or computer error may result in an incorrect listing. Please contact us for up-to-date pricing and availability information.
